The Newcastle Knights receive a lot of great feedback for the time they spend in the community and would like to share with you some of these stories.

Troy Wettig

Today my son had the thrill of taking Dylan Phythian for news.

The class researched Dylan and the Knights and were so excited when they saw him. Dylan answered a heap of questions the kids had wrote out, then went to the oval and showed the kids passing and kicking drills.

He conducted himself so well and did the Club proud on his first school visit - he left with 28 new fans for himself and the Knights.

Kathyrn Vitnell - Legacy

Anzac Day went extremely well! We were and are overwhelmed by the response we have received - the corporate box was great, the staff were absolutely lovely, and the atmosphere and being able to mingle with everyone involved was great.

The crowd was so supportive, they were even lining up to our volunteers to donate and receive their poppy!

The response was just amazing. We ended up raising $10,500! Nearly double from last year.
Our Manager and Legatee Ray Kelly spoke with the Chairman of the Board (Brian McGuigan) on the day, and he was so impressed. I will also be organising a plaque to show our gratitude.

Last night the Newcastle Knights hosted a junior members coaching clinic at Hunter Stadium, what a fantastic night!

The night went very smoothly and was well organised, so congratulations to the staff as well.  The emphasis was on fun during several training drills and the players took their turns at 'stacks on' in their stride. I hope none of them were injured!!

All the 'big' name players were there and were completely accommodating to the kids' requests for photos, handshakes, high fives, autographs, etc... Always with a smile on their face and nothing seemed a problem to them, for what I am sure, at times must be difficult for them to always be so accommodating.

Some of the players may not be parents but they sure showed some parents how it's done.

My son and three other Kotara Bears Juniors met with Sione upon our arrival.  Sione was also once a Bear and he was genuinely excited to see young Bears present and offered them all a high five. Well done Sione!!!

All too often we read of NRL players (and society in general) setting a poor example for our kids, but this was definitely not the case last night.  All players and staff behind this outstanding night should be commended for their involvement.

See you next time!

Leeanne Hawke - Autism Spectrum Australia

On behalf of the Students, Staff and Parents of Aspect Hunter School, I would like to thank the players and staff at the Newcastle Knights for supporting autism awareness.

The opportunity you provided our students and families at both the training visit and the game day was beyond words.

The students and families involved in the home game were thrilled and so thankful for the opportunity to be involved.

Hamish, who did the coin toss, told me it was the best day ever. The smiles on the families and children’s faces showed just how much it meant to them.

Creating awareness in the community is so important to me personally. I know that with greater awareness and understanding of Autism, my son Riley will have a far better life. The stares will be less and the compassion and empathy will increase.

Thank you to you and your staff for your hard work and allowing Aspect to be involved with the Knights. I hope it will be a relationship that will continue to grow over the years.

Amber Dale - The Salvation Army

I just wanted to say a huge thank you for your support in allowing The Salvation Army to collect at the Knights v Broncos game on Monday.

We did really well, raising significantly more than last year.

Thank you for allowing us to do a few things extra, such as bringing our mascot, having a presence on the family hill and doing the coin toss - I believe this all added to the success.

It was also a great opportunity to be able to share our planned activity through your social media avenues - thank you.

Renae Kilby

Thank you to the Newcastle Knights for donating a 2014 Signed Jersey for our Bare Your Feet For John Fundraiser on Sunday, 3 May 2015.

The Jersey sold for $550 at our auction, and this will go along way to support the MacRae family who sadly lost their 15-year-old son after a 5 year long battle to cancer.

The financial and emotional pressure this family have faced over the past 5 years has been horrific and to be able to help them ease some of this burden with your very generous donation words cannot express how appreciative we are.

I am overwhelmed with the generosity the Newcastle Knights have showed us and the timely manner in which they responded to our heartfelt request.

You're a great Club and what you do for the community does not go unnoticed. Thank you to all the staff and players at Newcastle Knights and all the best for this season.

Luke and Kimberley Barbara

We would just like to thank you once again for such an amazing experience, words cannot describe the time we had away with the team.

What a wonderful bunch of people each and every one of you are. Made us feel very welcome and comfortable all the time.

We have not stopped talking about it to all of our friends and family, they can't believe what a wonderful experience you gave us.

Hopefully this will encourage them to become Knights members too.

So again a massive thank you, to yourself, Matt Gidley, Rick Stone, Tara, all the coaching staff and our boys "the team".

Cannot wait to come say hello at all the home games. Feel like we have formed a wonderful friendship with you all.

What happens on tour stays on tour!

Sue Morgan

Today my husband Greg and I were shopping at Target at Westfield Kotara when two of the players approached us and said they would like to pay for our shopping.

We can't get the smiles off our faces. The present was a Christmas gift for our 6-month-old granddaughter.

We have had a bad run lately with our oven dying and our washing machine needing repairs.

I just want to say thank you for your kindness. This has made our Christmas.

I had lost the Christmas spirit. Thank you for giving it back.

Julie McDonald - Northcott Support Networks Coordinator

Thanks to your kind donation of a signed Newcastle Knights jersey we raised $720 for people with disabilities, their families and carers in the Hunter.

As a not-for-profit provider of disability support services, I want to thank you so much for all your assistance and support of our programs, which improve the lives of hundreds of families across the Hunter.

Bev Creagh PSM - Secretary, Newcastle Ball Committee

On behalf of the Newcastle Firefighters 2013 Ball Committee, I would like to convey our sincere appreciation of your kind-hearted donation towards our Annual Fundraising Ball.

Your generous sponsorship of a signed Knights Jersey was framed and sold at Silent Auction for $515.35.

Your sponsorship will enable the firefighters of Newcastle and the Hunter to make a donation of $34,000 to the John Hunter Hospital Children's Burns Unit and K.I.D.S Foundation Burns Survivors Support Group.

Pennie Kearney - CEO of the Mai-Wel Group

Mai-Wel would very much like you to pass on our appreciation to the administration of the Newcastle Knights who generously offered tickets to Mai-Wel and other disability providers in the Hunter area.

The tickets to attend the Newcastle Knights v Cronulla Sharks game on Sunday 5th May and Knights merchandise ensured that the people attending had not only a great view of the game but also felt very much included by proudly wearing their Knights caps.

Donations such as these are greatly appreciated by Mai-Wel as we strive to offer our supported employees and clients experiences the general public take for granted.
